The stones of the Bible come to us is several ways. We are most impacted by their use today as they relate to the birthstones we purchase in jewelry to commemorate someones birth. They also play a role in the jewelry that priests and other clergy wear to show their ranking.

.When we look at stones in our modern Birthstone lists, we are really looking into the recent as well as distant past. Jewelers were looking for a unique way to sell jewelry that they had in inventory. Much of this jewelry had what we call precious and semi-prescious stones incorporated into the design. They remembered the stones that are found in Most historians believe that these birthstones go back to the Breastplate of Aaron. They come directly from the Bible. Aaron was the brother of Moses. It was his job to lead the twelve tribes of Israel into the Land promised them by God. Moses was to remain in the wilderness as his people moved on to a new life after escaping slavery in Egypt.

Aaron is depicted as wearing a protective Breastplate on which twelve stones were placed. Each stone represented a tribe of Israel, a zodiac sign, and a period of time- a month. Because the names of stones have changed over the ages, we are not exactly sure what these stones were, but historical information leads us to a possible list.In a Sterling Rose Jewelry Party covering the theme The Stones of the Bible, we discuss these stones and how they can work in our lives.
